Amy Sexauer
Hello Eliot House! I am very excited to be joining the Eliot community as a non-resident tutor. I am entering my second year as a Masters of Divinity candidate at Harvard Divinity School where I am studying Religion and Literature with the goal of becoming a Chaplain.
I grew up living all over the world because my father was a career Army Officer. For my undergraduate degree, I attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where I studied leadership and majored in Systems Management. I commissioned into the United States Army in 2009 and spent the majority of my career in Psychological Operations supporting Special Operations missions. During my time in the Army I deployed to combat zones three times and visited numerous Middle Eastern countries including Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. After my daughter was born, I transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserves where I served as an instructor in Psychological Operations at the U.S. Army JFK Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Liberty.
Prior to moving to Cambridge for school, I was the Executive Director of The Dreams 4 All Foundation. They are a small charity in Southern Pines, North Carolina that sanitizes and recycles used mattresses, giving them to families in need. I have also volunteered extensively with Veteran Service Organizations in the nonprofit sector.
Most importantly, I am a mother to my six year old daughter Jyn and our two dogs Duke and AJ. I am an avid reader of romance, fantasy, and science fiction and could talk about books all day. I also enjoy running and weight lifting. I look forward to connecting with all of you!
