Claudia Nmai is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology. Broadly, her research focuses on how the criminal-legal system (re)produces inequality. Her current work explores how encounters with and perceptions of the police shape identity and family life for Black individuals in the U.S.
Claudia is the Sociology Concentration Advisor for Eliot House students for the 2026-2027 academic year, and will meet with Sociology concentrators to release their advising holds and answer any questions Eliot students might have about Sociology.
