Nicole Noll is a social psychologist who studies everyday actions like posture and gestures to understand their relationship to our thoughts and behaviors. She is especially interested in movement habits that are typically thought of as gendered, or that are otherwise relevant to the experiences of members of marginalized groups. In her research, Nicole examines how kinematic embodiments of culturally- and historically-situated social categories (e.g., gender/sex, race, class, age, etc.) develop and change over time and contribute to individuals' lived experiences. Nicole is also interested in how beliefs about gender/sex contribute to an individual's other attitudes and to their behavior.
