Hi there dear Eliot community,

My name is Santiago and I’m a filmmaker and a PhD candidate in Art, Film and Visual Studies. Before arriving to Harvard, I completed an MFA program in France, as well as undergraduate studies in cinematography, literature, and linguistics in my home country of Mexico. I’m interested in cinema and visuality as a place for critical thinking, somatic or otherwise. I’ve practiced photography and other modalities of image making for a while now, which means that I’ve been trying to think not only about images but through them. My research focuses on different relations between materiality, duration, movement, temporality and processes of globalization and deglobalization. I like meditating, literature, long pieces of music, and honestly I don’t know what would become of my life without the Australian jazz band The Necks.
