There are many opportunies available for undergraduate students to apply for funding for research, travel, and academic opportunities while in college. At the [website of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (URAF)](https://uraf.harvard.edu/find-opportunities/browse-uraf-opps) you can browse opportunities by categories such as opportunitity type and your academic year. URAF also provides [class year guides](https://uraf.harvard.edu/find-opportunities/class-year-guides), which can give you guidance specific to your academic year. Please reach out to any of the fellowship tutors for help finding and applying to these opportunities.

Below we highlight a few of the most popular fellowships for undergraduate research:

[**Harvard College Research Program (HCRP)**](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/hcrp) provides funding for independent research projects that are done under the supervision of a faculty member. HCRP provides funding for both summer opportunies and term-time work.

**Harvard Summer Undergraduate Research Village Program (HSURV)** is a 10-week, on-campus program where students work on a research project under supervision of a Harvard faculty mentor during the summer. To participate, students apply directly to research area specific programs that participate in the HSURV. The programs include: [Summer Undergraduate Research in Global Health (SURGH)](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/surgh), [Program for Research in Science and Engineering (PRISE)](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/prise), [Build Learning through Inquiry in the Social Sciences (BLISS)](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/bliss), [Summer Humanities and Arts Research Program (SHARP)](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/sharp), [Summer Program for Undergraduates in Data Science (SPUDS),](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/spuds) and [Program for Research in Markets and Organizations (PRIMO)](https://uraf.harvard.edu/uraf-opportunities/primo). These programs have application deadlines around early February. Students should plan to begin the application process during the fall semester.
